Central Highlands Colt Starting Challenge is held at the Emerald’s Ag Grow in July each year.
The event, now in its 5th year aims to give the audience the ultimate equine experience by allowing them to interact with the horsemen competing in the event over two days.
Attendees witness three leading horse people demonstrate their equine abilities to each take two horses from an unbroken mount to be able to complete an obstacle course.
The Central Highlands Colts Starting Challenge has based their event on the wealth of knowledge that the three competitors can pass on to the spectators, as each have a unique style that they have learnt over the years of starting colts in Australia and the USA.
Their goal is to promote the horse breaker/colt starters that are positively active in the business.
In two days these horses go from wild to mild in a demonstration that is nothing short of remarkable. This is a great attraction that keeps building in popularity as the years go by.
Events over 2 Days:
All colts in the Challenge are by Bluey Rey.
2017 saw a change in focus from the horse to young trainers who are starting out in the industry. 6 competitors – 3 Mentors teamed with 3 Understudies. [Find out more…]
