Introducing Kings Cross

Heather & David Pascoe know horses so when they tell us they have an exciting new sire prospect we listen.  Even if said stallion is just 4 weeks old.

David Pascoe said, “We believe that this colt carries some of the most extraordinary genetics in the world and – if he makes the grade as a colt – we will do our best to allow both the campdraft industry and the polocrosse industry the opportunity to use him at stud.”

Read the story of what makes KINGS CROSS  so special.

It’s one of those time honoured traditions when horsemen like to sit around and talk about dream matings, discussing breeding the greatest mare to the greatest stallion. Well, one of those dream matings actually happened last year when the legendary polocrosse champion Ravers was bred to the legendary campdraft champion Hazelwood Conman.

The resultant colt foal was delivered by a recipient mare less than four weeks ago and – despite the recent flood rains and a peppering by mosquitos – the colt has absolutely thrived.

Sara Grills offered an embryo o/o her champion mare Ravers to friends Dr David and Heather Pascoe and they subsequently bred her to Conman. Sara stands the Pascoe’s stallion Nonda Newman at Berragoon and both the Grills & Pascoe families were excited by the arrival of the handsome chestnut colt.

And his name?
Well, David thinks it’s pretty obvious that any colt by a horse called Conman out of a mare called Ravers should to be called KINGS CROSS. Anyone who remembers Kings Cross back in its wild and colourful heyday will know it was full of all sorts of party goers and very shady characters.
